![]() A five-day exhibition featuring work from some of the world’s most prominent street artists opens in London this November 18. Curated by Vandalog’s Michael ‘RJ’ Rushmore, The Thousands will feature work by the likes of Faile, Banksy, KAWS, Shepard Fairey, Swoon, Os Gemesos, Herakut, Barry McGee and many more. While most of the pieces are on loan from private collections and not for sale, there will be a few brand new pieces direct from the artists. Taking inspiration from Daniel Alarcón’s short fable of the same name, which told the story of a group of individuals working outside the traditional parameters of the establishment, The Thousands organiser had this to say about the show: “Around the world there are thousands of anonymous and semi-anonymous people and artists working outside the restrictions of government and/or the art establishment to create something that cannot be understood by those authorities. This exhibition highlights the best of those thousands so that the art establishment will hopefully begin to understand and appreciate these artists.” In conjunction with the show, Drago Lab will be publishing a companion book entitled ‘The Thousands: Painting Outside, Breaking In’. Featuring photos and bios of some of the exhibition’s featured artists, it also includes guest contributions from the likes of Panik ATG and Gaia. The Thousands will be open from Wednesday, November 18 to Sunday, November 22 at Village Underground (54 Holywell Lane, London, EC2A 3PQ) Images Featured: Faile / Judith Supine / Adam Neate / Anthony Lister Check out the latest news from the exhibition at thethousands.wordpress.com For more details on the accompanying book ‘The Thousands: Painting Outside, Breaking In’ click here |
