![]() San Francisco-based illustrator and artist Jeremy Fish is currently exhibiting a brand new collection of work at Laguna Art Museum in California. Featuring a fresh series of paintings (each individually mounted in hand carved wood frames), sculptures, and an installation of 3D figures in the museum’s upstairs gallery, the vast show, entitled ‘Weathering the Storm’, is the artist’s largest solo exhibition to date. Fish’s instantly recognisable anthropomorphic creatures and icons include woodland animals, beavers, skulls, birds and more, depicted in quasi-evolutionary scenes. The influence of cartoons, comics, and children’s literature is also prominent; the tales of The Brothers Grimm particularly evoked through Fish’s organic aesthetic. Initially a freelance skateboard designer, immersed in the San Francisco skate culture for nearly two decades, ‘Weathering the Storm’ marks the culmination of the development of Fish’s iconic characters over the last ten years. Weathering the Storm is open now and runs until Sunday, January 17, 2010.
